The American Optometric Association discontinued the AOAConnect community platform on December 31, 2014.
At the AOA, we continuously evaluate our offerings and how they are being used, and we sometimes determine that we can better utilize our resources to build a stronger and more engaging experience for our members and the optometric community.
Our goal with AOAConnect was to build a community-based social media tool where all current AOA members, students, volunteers and staff could share information, work collaboratively and build community. As technology changes and the way people use social media continuing to evolve, it makes sense for AOA to put our resources toward more pertinent and useful tools.
If you would like to set up your own Facebook or LinkedIn group to continue your discussions, AOA has a tutorial to help you. Simply contact us at email@example.com or your AOA staff liaison.
If you are also a user of the AOAConnect app, please know that this will also be discontinued. We are planning to introduce a new comprehensive AOA app in 2015.
A complete, up to date, all-member directory is now available at https://www.aoa.org/myaoa. This new feature allows members to search for fellow members and classmates. Members are able to connect via email and social media links, and view member profiles.
We would like to thank all of our members and visitors for being part of the AOA community!
