Thursday, June 22

  • 8-9 a.m.
    Choose from one of three free symposia with breakfast.
    Enjoy breakfast courtesy of industry supporters with either of Alcon's "Vision Care Update" or "Ocular Allergy Update," or Shire's "There is More to Know When It Comes to Dry Eye."

  • 9-10 a.m.*
    Attend the AOA House of Delegates.
    Get to the AOA House of Delegates early to witness the traditional fanfare of the opening session, including the parade of flags from each affiliate association. See your delegate in action, helping advance optometry's priorities in the AOA Congress.

  • 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
    Attend continuing education (CE).
    Consult the CE schedule to find in-depth, unique and new educational programming, and stay up to date on the latest practice management, technological and clinical advances in the industry. Chart your schedule just right, and earn an unprecedented 36.5 hours of CE credits over five days.

  • 12-1 p.m.
    Choose from one of several free symposia with lunch.

  • Advocate for the profession with AOA on Capitol Hill 2017. This year, AOA combined Optometry's Meeting with its annual Congressional Advocacy Conference for AOA on Capitol Hill 2017. Coordinate with your state association and see how you can help advocate for your profession on the Hill or during your visit to D.C.   • 4-5 p.m.*
    Visit the
    Exhibit Hall.
    Join the AOA Board of Trustees at the official grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony, and stay for the Washington Nationals' Racing Presidents. Don't miss this opportunity to talk to nearly 200 exhibitors face to face and find everyday solutions that can enhance your practice and assist in providing quality patient care.

  • 5-7 p.m.
    Dinner in the nation's capital.
    The Walter E. Washington Convention Center is right in the middle of D.C., one of the nation's most diverse and eclectic culinary scenes. Take a short cab ride-or walk along the historic National Mall-to find any one of the city's 2,100+ restaurants.

  • 7-8 p.m.*
    Attend the National Optometry Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
    If you have room, have hors d'oeuvres with luminaries of the optometric profession as Optometry Cares®-The AOA Foundation inducts the Class of 2017 into the National Optometry Hall of Fame.

  • 8-11 p.m.*
    Experience the Essilor Optometry Student BowlTM XXVI.
    Don't miss the high-speed, high-stakes test of optometric knowledge that is the Optometry Student Bowl. Come enjoy the energy and good-spirited, collegiate rivalries as you cheer on your alma mater for the coveted crystal trophy.
