Registration now open for Optometry’s Meeting®

Time flies, so be sure to take advantage of early-bird registration for Optometry's Meeting® 2014 now through May 1 before significant savings fly the coop.

AOA member optometrists and optometric staff can save up to 20 percent off on-site registration fees; students and post-graduates can save up to 25 percent simply by registering during the early-bird period for this year's June 25-29 conference in Philadelphia. Adult guests of AOA or AOSA members also receive similar savings of more than 25 percent, and members' children, 17 years of age and younger, can attend for free.

Following the May 1 cutoff for early-bird registration, members can still register in advance up to the day before the conference. However, registrants are encouraged to submit applications as early as possible to receive discounted rates and avoid lines on-site.

Back by popular demand

Returning this year, members can take advantage of the inclusive fee structure for Optometry's Meeting. Offering greater flexibility for one low price, the inclusive fee structure allows members to fit in as many continuing education sessions as they desire without having to select courses ahead of time.

Through the all-inclusive registration members receive:

  • Four days of continuing education
  • Three days' entry to the Exhibit Hall
  • Admittance to popular events, such as Optometry's Meeting Opening General Session, sponsored by Essilor; Varilux® Optometry Student BowlTM XXIII, sponsored by Essilor; and A Celebration of Optometry, sponsored by HOYA.

Students and optometric staff also will be included in the OD continuing education program and are eligible to take any course offered on the program for no additional fees.

This year's meeting has been extended by a day to help members participate in all it has to offer. An earlier start date on Wednesday, June 25, adds an additional day of options for attendees.

What to expect

An added day at the start of Optometry's Meeting means more opportunity for meeting up with friends and colleagues on the opening day. Continuing education classes throughout Wednesday afternoon will be capped off by the Opening General Session that night. Holding the Opening General Session, including the Awards Ceremony, on Wednesday evening means attendees can listen to the speaker and afterward have a relaxing get-together.

Sponsored by Essilor, the Opening General Session will feature keynote speaker Scott Hamilton. An Olympic gold-medalist figure skater and inductee in both the US Olympics and World Figure Skating Halls of Fame, Hamilton is renowned for his remarkable list of achievements that also includes Emmy Award nominee, best-selling author and philanthropist. Hamilton, a survivor of both a brain tumor and cancer, has inspired audiences nationwide with a message of fortitude and determination.

Optometry's Meeting combines more than 220 hours of CE classes, 200 industry exhibits and more than 50 networking events alongside the annual AOA House of Delegates.
