The Optometrist of the Year Award was presented to Sen. David Heitmeier, O.D., of Louisiana, for his outstanding service on behalf of the profession and the visual welfare of the public. Click here for biography.

The Young Optometrist of the Year Award was presented to Tamara Petrosyan, O.D., of New Jersey, who has been in practice less than 10 years and demonstrates remarkable leadership when serving the profession, patients and her community. Click here for biography and video.

The Optometric Educator Award was presented to Tammy Than, O.D., of Alabama, for outstanding service on behalf of the profession, optometric education and the visual welfare of the public. Click here for biography and video.

The Paraoptometric of the Year Award was presented to Marilyn Beeson, CPOA, of Mississippi, for her significant contributions to the field of paraoptometry. Click here for biography and video.

The Distinguished Service Award was presented to Lee Carr III, O.D., of Oklahoma, for his unusually significant contributions to the profession of optometry. Click here for biography and video.

The Apollo Award was presented to NewView Oklahoma, Inc., for distinguished service to the visual welfare of the public. The nonprofit organization is the leading employer of the blind and visually impaired in the state and the state's only private agency that provides specialized vision rehabilitation services. AOA congratulates all 2015 award nominees
The Optometrist of the Year and Young Optometrist of the Year were selected from a robust field of nominees from 28 state associations and the Armed Forces Optometric Society. All of these AOA-member doctors of optometry have distinguished themselves, and the profession, and are deserving of recognition and appreciation.
