Help support a comprehensive, online reference tool for AOA members and enter for a chance to gain nationwide recognition in the process.

"The Anterior Segment Image Catalog is a living, breathing library of the best images captured in our offices."

The Anterior Segment Image Catalog seeks member-submitted images of aforementioned conditions to continue building the quick-reference visual database. And, in turn, members' photos could be selected for the 'Photo of the Month' and published in the monthly AOA Contact Lens and Cornea Section (CLCS) newsletter.

Members' ocular images have been featured in the newsletter since October with photos augmenting the scores of anterior segment condition images already available for viewing in the gallery.

Catalog a 'living, breathing library'
Accessible to all members via an online gallery, the Anterior Segment Image Catalog serves as a visual resource for practitioners to help both in patient education and optometric research.

Submissions from members have helped the database progressively expand since its introduction in April to include categories such as conjunctiva and sclera, contact lenses, cornea, lid and surgery. To ensure clinical accuracy, each image is reviewed by an expert panel to ensure not only overall quality of photography, but also appropriate diagnosis before being categorized for members' reference.

"The Anterior Segment Image Catalog is a living, breathing library of the best images captured in our offices," says Jeffrey Sonsino, O.D., CLCS vice chair. "It will thrive because of the diverse clinical experiences of our members."

There's added benefit to submit images because the catalog photos could become available for purchase by industry representatives, Dr. Sonsino says.
