For EHR incentives, begin reporting by Oct. 1
If you are a first-year participant in the Medicare Electronic Health Records (EHR) Incentive Program, you must begin reporting for 2013 by Oct. 1.
To qualify for second-year EHR incentives during 2013, you must show you have met the government's meaningful use standards for a full year.
If you have already completed your reporting period, several tools can help you prepare for attestation:
- The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Eligible Professional Attestation Worksheet allows you to record meaningful use measures for reference when attesting for the program in the CMS Web-based Registration and Attestation System.
- The CMS Meaningful Use Attestation Calculator and Attestation User Guide for Eligible Professionals offer additional information on how to attest to meeting meaningful use.
AOA ExcelTM also offers webinars, articles, FAQs and other information related to EHR incentives. And the CMS offers a Milestone Timeline and Participation Timeline to help you track important dates related to the program.
