At its June 26-29, 2013 Annual meeting in San Diego, California the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education took the following actions:

NOTE: The date behind the names of the programs below is the next currently scheduled full evaluation visit.

1. Preaccreditation Actions

The following program was granted candidacy pending status following unanimous mail ballot:

  • Sierra Vista Community Based Outpatient Clinic of the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System Residency in Ocular Disease, which is affiliated with Southern California College of Optometry (2014);

Classification of "Preliminary Approval" continued following a full evaluation visit:

  • MCPHS University (formerly known as Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences) School of Optometry Professional Optometric Degree Program (2014);

2. Initial Accreditation

  • Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center Residency in Pediatric Optometry, which is affiliated with The Ohio State University College of Optometry (2021);
  • Fromer Eye Centers Residency in Ocular Disease Optometry, which is affiliated with State University of New York, State College of Optometry (2021);
  • Midwestern University Arizona College of Optometry Professional Optometric Degree Program (2021);
  • Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Health Care System Residency in Primary Care/Vision Rehabilitation, which is affiliated with Illinois College of Optometry (2021);
  • University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry Professional Optometric Degree Program (2021);
  • Veterans Affairs Long Beach Healthcare System Residency in Low Vision Rehabilitation/ Primary Eye Care, which is affiliated with Southern California College of Optometry (2021);
  • Western University of Health Sciences College of Optometry Professional Optometric Degree Program (2021);

3. Continuing Accreditation
Classification of "Accredited" continued following a full evaluation visit:

  • Bascom Palmer Eye Institute Residency in Ocular Disease, which is affiliated with Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry (2021);
  • BVA Advanced Eyecare and TLC Laser Eye Center-Tulsa Residency in Ocular Disease and Refractive and Ocular Surgery, which is affiliated with Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry (2021);
  • Cincinnati Eye Institute Residency in Ocular Disease, which is affiliated with The Ohio State University College of Optometry (2021);
  • Inter American University of Puerto Rico School of Optometry Professional Optometric Degree Program (2021);
  • Seidenberg Protzko Eye Associates Residency in Ocular Disease, which is affiliated with Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University (2021);
  • State University of New York, State College of Optometry Residency in Cornea and Contact Lens (2021);

Classification of "Accredited with Conditions" raised to "Accredited" following a full evaluation visit:

  • Inter American University of Puerto Rico School of Optometry, Residency in Primary Eye Care (2021);

Classification of "Accredited With Conditions"* granted following a full evaluation visit:

  • Jonathan M. Wainwright Memorial Veterans Affairs Medical Center Residency in Primary Eye Care and Surgical Co-Mgmt with Emphasis in Geriatrics and Ocular Disease, which is affiliated with Pacific University College of Optometry (2014);

4. Reconsideration of Accreditation Denial

5. Withdrawal of accreditation by ACOE

6. Voluntary withdrawal from accreditation

  • None

* A decision to grant the category of accredited with conditions is not final until the ACOE appeals process has been exhausted, or until 30 days from notification of the action to grant accredited with conditions.
