Recent ACOE Accreditation Actions

At its February 18-20, 2011 Winter meeting in Alexandria, Virginia the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education took the following actions or received the following voluntary withdrawals:

NOTE: The date behind the names of the programs below is the next currently scheduled full evaluation visit.

1. Preaccreditation Actions

The following program was granted candidacy pending status following review of their self-study:

  • Ralph H. Johnson Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Residency in Low Vision and Primary Care Optometry, which is affiliated with Southern College of Optometry (2012);
  • VA Boston Healthcare System, Residency in Primary Eye Care and Low Vision Rehabilitation, which is affiliated with New England College of Optometry (2012)

3. Continuing Accreditation
Classification of "Accredited" continued following a full evaluation visit:

  • Albuquerque Veterans Affairs Medical Center Residency in Primary Eye Care—Department of Veterans Affairs, which is affiliated with the University of Houston College of Optometry (2017);
  • Huntington Veterans Affairs Medical Center Residency in Ocular Disease, which is affiliated with Indiana University School of Optometry (2017);
  • New York Harbor Health Care System Residency in Ocular Disease/Primary Eye Care Optometry, which is affiliated with State University of New York, State College of Optometry (2018);
  • State University of New York, State College of Optometry Residency in Low Vision Rehabilitation (2017);
  • VA Maryland Healthcare System, Perry Point Residency in Primary Eye Care/Ocular Disease, which is affiliated with Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University (2017)

Classification of "Accredited With Conditions" granted following a full evaluation visit:
