Volunteer Committees

There are many opportunities to volunteer your time, your knowledge and your experience within the paraoptometric community. If you are interested in making a difference, review these committee descriptions, and follow the links below to get started. Volunteer forms may be submitted any time of year as length of commitment may be flexible. Agenda, schedule, and expectations will be sent upon admittance to a committee.

Awards & Recognition Committee

 

Be part of the team that chooses the best in the paraoptometric community. Help select who will be Paraoptometric of the Year and other PRC award recipients, and develop plans to promote Paraoptometric Recognition Week. Open to AOA associate members.
Commitment: monthly conference calls

State Relations Committee

Develop new ideas for stronger communication and assistance between state paraoptometric leaders and the AOA Paraoptometric Resource Center. Open to AOA associate members.
Commitment: quarterly conference calls.

Membership Committee

Spread the word about all of the great member benefits you enjoy, and join the team that develops a membership recruitment and retention plan. Review membership benefits and help develop a marketing plan to attract new members. Open to AOA associate members.

Education Committee

 

Directly influence the education of other paraoptometrics by developing a yearly continuing education plan. Recruit new authors, review test questions and promote awareness. Open to AOA associate members.

CPC Continuing Education Review Committee

  

Review, grant, or deny approval requests for continuing education courses submitted to the CPC. Review current recertification requirements and make recommendations as needed. Upon completion of the annual assignment, committee members will be awarded a certificate of completion worth four (4) continuing education credit hours that can be used toward the requirements for certification renewal.  Committee members must hold an active CPC certification.

CPC Certification Examination Committee

  

Develop, evaluate and review test items according to psychometric standards as provided by the contracted testing company. Upon completion of the annual assignment, committee members will be awarded a certificate of completion worth four (4) continuing education credit hours that can be used toward the requirements for certification renewal. Committee members must hold an active CPO, CPOA, or CPOT certification.

CPC Coding Certification Examination Committee
