LV-Low Vision Coding and Billing: Lessons Learned from the New Evaluation and Management Codes

Description:

The adoption of the new 'Evaluation and Management' Codes can effectively be used to bill and code low vision services. Under the new guidelines, outpatient office visits can coded using either 'medical decision making' or 'time'. This requires providers who provide low vision services to have a thorough knowledge of appropriate and accurate coding. The transition to ICD-10 has added to the overall challenge of billing for these services. This course will review the lessons learned from the new definitions of 'E & M' coding as well as from changes to ICD-10. In order to survive audits, guidelines for the proper documentation of medical records will be discussed. Case examples will be utilized to highlight these important changes.
