Accreditation Council on Optometric Education
at the ACOE Annual Meeting
June 25-28, 2008

At its June 25-28, 2008 Annual meeting in Seattle, Washington, the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education took the following actions:

NOTE: The date behind the names of the programs below is the next currently scheduled full evaluation visit.

1. Preaccreditation Actions
The following programs were granted candidacy pending status following unanimous mail ballots:

Cincinnati Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Residency in Primary Care, which is affiliated with the Ohio State University, College of Optometry (2009);
Veterans Affairs Tallahassee Outpatient Clinic, Residency in Primary Eye Care, which is affiliated with Nova Southeastern University, College of Optometry (2009);

2. Initial Accreditation

Children’s Mercy Hospital and Clinics, Residency in Pediatric Optometry which is affiliated with University of Missouri-St. Louis, College of Optometry (2015);

3. Continuing Accreditation
Classification of “Accredited” continued following a full evaluation visit:

Bay Pines Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Residency in Primary Eye Care, which is affiliated with Nova Southeastern University, College of Optometry (2015);
Illinois College of Optometry, Residency in Cornea and Contact Lens Management (2015);
Indiana University School of Optometry, Optician/Technician Program (2015);
Pacific University College of Optometry, Residency in Cornea and Contact Lenses (2015);
Université de Montréal School of Optometry, Professional Optometric Degree Program (2016);

Classification of “Accredited with Conditions” raised to “Accredited” following a full evaluation visit:

Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Residency in Primary Care Optometry, which is affiliated with Salus University Pennsylvania College of Optometry

4. Reconsideration of Accreditation Denial

5. Withdrawal of accreditation by ACOE

6. Voluntary withdrawal of accreditation
