In order to give honor and recognition for exceptional service and dedication to optometry and the visual welfare of the public, the American Optometric Association has established several major awards. These are bestowed annually to deserving individuals or groups according to criteria established for the awards.

Here you may view the names of recipients of the Apollo, Distinguished Service, Optometrist of the Year, Paraoptometric of the Year,  Young Optometrist of the Year, and Optometric Educator of the Year awards with the year of their honoring.

The National Optometry Hall of Fame is currently administered by Optometry Cares -- the AOA Foundation.  Inductees into this honored group are also listed here.
