2010 CLCS Student/Resident Essay Awards



The CLCS is excited to announce FOUR essay award opportunities!

Students and residents may submit essays on FOUR topics that are highly pertinent to the field of contact lenses, including:

  • "What is the Future in Refractive Technology?"
    Supported by Abbott Medical Optics (AMO)
  • "Maximizing Safety of Contact Lens Wearers. "
    Supported by CIBA VISION
  • "Problem-Solving with Specialty Contact Lens Designs."
    Supported by CooperVision
  • "My Most Challenging Contact Lens Case."
    Supported by Vistakon®

Each essay award will include:

  • One first-place award – A $2,000 check and $850 Optometry's Meeting® travel grant, a prestigious plaque and acknowledgement in the CLCS e-newsletter and web page.
  • Two "runner-up" awards – A $1,000 check, certificate and acknowledgement in the CLCS e-newsletter and web page.

Entries Must Follow the Award Submission Criteria:

  1. Be a current CLCS member. (All AOSA members are also CLCS members.)
  2. Meet the submission deadline of March 22, 2010.
  3. Include complete contact information.
  4. Specify the topic of the award submission research paper.
  5. Format as a Microsoft Word document.
  6. Include a reference page.

NOTE: First-place winners must be present at the AOA-CLCS Awards Reception held at the 2010 Optometry's Meeting® on Friday, June 18 in Orlando, Florida.

The CLCS Awards Committee will review and score the essay papers on relevancy, clinical findings/analysis, conclusion and write-up. Highest score wins!

Submissions deadline is March 22, 2010 – E-Mail essay submission to CLCS@aoa.org in a Word document format.
