Special Briefing: How to Thrive and Succeed in an Era of Health Care Reform

The only constant in health care seems to be change after Congress voted in the Reform on March 21, 2010. But AOA advocacy leaders are here to help the Ophthalmic Council™ better understand how each new legislation will affect your ophthalmic market.

On November 22, a special briefing updated the Ophthalmic Council™ on the key issues facing Congress including:

  • Bush Tax Cuts on the Medicare Physician Payment issues.
  • New considerations for Vision Screening Legislation in Congress including children's vision. As well as AOA's concerns that legislation could advance at the expense of comprehensive eye exams.
  • The role of both AOA members and the ophthalmic industry in ensuring optometry's agenda is supported in state regulatory issues; this is where the implementation schemes will be created supporting health care reform.
  • Harkin Amendment - AOA will continue to engage its membership in support of this historic legislation. The AOA is focused on defending and preserving its intent through the implementation of Health Care Reform.

Watch the 30-minute program for answers to your concerns on the many challenges and opportunities faced with fealth care reform implementation as well as the strategies and tools that Optometry's leaders will need to help advance a pro-access, pro-patient agenda.

The American Optometric Association (AOA) relies on corporate support to continue and expand its mission to influence the future of eye care by ensuring the visual elfare of the public and advancing the profession of optometry. AOA would like to thank the Ophthalmic Council™ for their continued support and commitment to the AOA and optometry.
