New Technology and EHR



The New Technology & EHR Survey was designed to evaluate current use and awareness of technology available for the optometric practice.  Results from this annual survey provide descriptive statistics on current and historical use of technology such as ophthalmic equipment, electronic software to document patient care and manage administrative functions of the practice, meaningful use and adoption of EHR, and internet use.

2012 New Technology & EHR Survey Methodologies

  • Executive Summary - This free publication is available for immediate download in PDF format and provides an overall summary of key results from the 2012 survey

  • Optometry Report - This 34-page publication presents results from the 2012 survey in narrative format with the support of 26 figures to present important findings. This report may be purchased through the AOA Online Store, and is available in PDF (item RC1-O2D), CD (item RC1-O2C), and Print (item RC1-O2P).

  • Detailed Survey Analysis Report - This 63-page detailed comprehensive report employs limited narrative, and includes tabulations and graphics for further statistical analysis.  Through the use of 60 tables and figures, this report utilizes cross tabulation to enable the user to monitor trends in the optometry profession specific to his or her practice characteristics, including employment situation, gender, practice type and U.S. Census Region.  This report may be purchased through the AOA Online Store, and is available in PDF (item RC1-D2D), CD (item RC1-D2C), and Print (item RC1-D2P).
