Healthy eyes and clear vision are important for the child learning to read, the adult at work on a computer, and for the senior at risk for an age-related eye condition. Comprehensive eye exams are an important part of the overall healthcare routine&mash;at every stage of life. Exams can detect vision problems that, if caught early, can be treated. Please help us remind people of all ages to make an eye appointment with their optometrist by airing one or more of these public service announcements. As always, the American Optometric Association and its 34,000 members appreciate your consideration and the valuable airtime your station can allocate.

Your sight is a gift too important to leave unchecked. The American Optometric Association has created "The Healthy Eyes Healthy People Checklist" to help you determine if it's time for an eye exam. The test asks a series of yes or no questions regarding symptoms you may experience and your family history. Don't let undetected eye problems compromise your ability to see and enjoy the world around you. For more information, please visit www.aoa.org. |

Regular eye care should start before the print you read gets blurry. A lifetime of regular eye exams help ensure a lifetime of healthy vision. Children should receive their first exam at age six months, again at age three, before school starts and every 2-3 years thereafter. Adults should have exams every 2-3 years. After age 60, annual exams are encouraged. A message from the American Optometric Association. |
