At its February 4-6, 2005 Winter meeting in Rosslyn, Virginia, the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education took the following actions:

NOTE: The date behind the names of the programs below is the next currently scheduled full evaluation visit.

  2. Initial Accreditation

  3. Continuing Accreditation

    Classification of "Accredited" continued following a full evaluation visit:


    • Birmingham VAMC, Residency in Geriatric and Low Vision Rehabilitative Optometry, which is affiliated with the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry (2011);
    • Chillicothe/Columbus VAMC, Residency in Hospital-Based Optometry, which is affiliated with The Ohio State University College of Optometry (2011);
    • Northeastern State University College of Optometry, Professional Optometric Degree Program (2012);
    • Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry, Professional Optometric Degree Program (2012);
    • Tuscaloosa VAMC, Residency in Hospital Based/Primary Care Optometry, which is affiliated with the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry (2011);
    • VA Iliana Health Care System, Optometric Residency in Primary Eye Care, which is affiliated with the Indiana University School of Optometry (2011);
    • VA Maryland Health Care System, Baltimore VAMC, Residency in Ocular Disease, which is affiliated with Pennsylvania College of Optometry (2011)
    • Classification of "Accredited" continued following a full evaluation visit:


    Classification of “Accredited with Conditions” raised to “Accredited” following review of progress reports:

    • Inter American University of Puerto Rico, School of Optometry, Residency in Primary Eye Care (2011);
    • Kansas City VAMC, Residency in Primary Eye Care/Low Vision Rehabilitation, which is affiliated with the University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry (2010);

  4. Withdrawal of accreditation by ACOE
