    Login Troubleshooting

    Having trouble logging into www.aoa.org?

No  problem.  Often login troubles result in a short list of symptoms:

    • The login system says my username or password is invalid.
    • I put in my username and password, and the login screen flushes out my information when I click submit.
    • I get a blank page when I try to log in.

    Invalid Username or Password

When a member joins AOA for the first time, he or she is assigned a username and password.  By default, a member's username is his or her six-digit member ID number, and the member's password is his or her six-digit date of birth (no punctuation). When a member does not have a date of birth on file when his or her record is created, the system generates a password in its place.

Call 1-800-365-2219 for login assistance.  Use extensions 4219, 4217, or 4215 for help.

    Return to the login screen

This is usually the result of a cookie block, either by the browser or your anti-virus software. When a member logs into aoa.org, a small session cookie is written on the member's computer for the duration of the visit to aoa.org, and is destroyed at the end of the session. For the aoa.org login to function properly, aoa.org must be able to write a first-party cookie.

Many anti-virus programs allow you to declare either trusted sites, or actions that certain sites can perform. Please make sure that first party cookies are accepted for www.aoa.org in your anti-virus program.

Cookies can also be blocked at the browser level. To adjust the cookie settings for aoa.org, while maintaining your browser-level security for the rest of the internet, see the instructions below:

    For Internet Explorer 6.0

Click Tools in the menu bar and select Internet Options. In the Internet Options box, click the Privacy tab. Click the Sites button in the Settings area. In the Address of web site window, type "www.aoa.org" and click Allow. "aoa.org" should appear in the Managed Web sites window. Click OK on the Per Site Privacy Actions window and the Internet Options window.

    For Firefox 1.5

Click Tools in the menu bar and select Options. In the Internet Options box, click the Cookies tab. You can choose whether to allow sites to set cookies or not with the checkbox. If you wish to block cookies while allowing aoa.org to write a login cookie, uncheck the "Allow sites to set cookies" checkbox and click the Exceptions button.  Type www.aoa.org in the "Address of web site" window and click Allow.  Click OK in the Exceptions window and OK in the Options window.

    Blank page upon login

This happens when an anti-virus program or firewall blocks private headers for www.aoa.org. Most security programs allow you to adjust your private headers settings.

If you encounter a white screen, you can return to www.aoa.org in the same browser window and navigate the web site as a logged in member.
