What is the Contact Lens and Cornea Section (CLCS)?

The CLCS is a nationally recognized segment of the American Optometric Association (AOA).

Who are members of the CLCS?

Eye care professionals and optometry students who are dedicated to furthering their understanding in the field of contact lenses, cornea, diagnosis and treatment of anterior segment disease, refractive surgery, and related technologies.

What can the CLCS do for you?

By joining the CLCS, we serve you, our member, by providing timely clinical education, representation with state and national government agencies, and a recognized and trusted voice to the public for information on contact lenses, anterior segment management, and refractive technologies.

We provide you timely clinical education through our comprehensive monthly e-newsletter. The CLCS newsletter is recognized as a leading e-publication in the eye care field today. With our talented board of contributing writers and editors, the newsletter delivers you the latest information on contact lens and refractive surgery technologies, clinical management, and practice management strategies for you and your patients.

The CLCS provides innovative educational programming at Optometry's Meeting®.

The CLCS Web site and staff serve as educational resources to you, our member, year-round.

The CLCS represents the interest of its members to the optometric profession, as well as to government agencies, such as the FDA and FTC, on issues affecting the optometric practice.

The CLCS provides you a national referral network which you can use for referring and receiving patients from other practitioners who are specialists like yourself.

CLCS Membership/Dues

Annual Membership Dues (In US Funds):

  • Licensed optometrists (one year or less) $25.00
  • Licensed optometrists (one to two years following graduation) $50.00
  • All other licensed ODs $85.00
  • Allied personnel/professionals $50
  • Active and post-graduate optometry students $0 (FREE thanks to a grant from CIBA Vision)

While payments to AOA are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes, they may be deductible under other provisions of the Internal Revenue Code.
