Aviation Vision Continuing Education Course



Through the generous sponsorship of both Essilor of America and Vistakon, the AOA’s Aviation Vision Committee has developed a 6-hour course on Aviation Vision. It is presented regularly at Optometry’s Meeting®, as well as programs sponsored by AOA Affiliates across the U.S.

AOA Aviation Vision Course

(6 Hours COPE-qualified)

Sight is a crutial tool for pilots.

Nothing may be more important to pilots than their vision. This 6-hour course is designed to prepare optometrists to meet the basic needs of their pilot patients, whether they are involved in general, commercial, or military aviation. Specific issues to be covered include:

  • FAA Aviation Medical Examination & Certification Process and Vision Standards
  • Prescription Options for Aviation
  • Color Vision in Aviation
  • Night Vision in Aviation
  • Spatial Disorientation
  • Refractive Surgery in Aviation
