InfantSEE Workshops Educate Over 100 Students at Optometry’s Meeting with Support from Johnson & Johnson
Alexandria, VA – August 11, 2025 – InfantSEE®, a program that provides no-cost, comprehensive eye and vision health assessments for infants, hosted two workshops at Optometry’s Meeting 2025 in Minneapolis this past June. Over 100 optometry students participated in the real-time exams with seasoned doctors of optometry and participating infants.
"These workshops are always buzzing with excitement – having seasoned professionals lead the way with curious infants and their parents keeps the environment fun with just the right amount of real-world experience,” said Jennifer Zolman, O.D., InfantSEE & Children's Vision Committee Chair.
Managed by The AOA Foundation and backed from the beginning by long-time AOA visionary supporter Johnson & Johnson, InfantSEE is a public health program designed to ensure that eye and vision care becomes an integral part of infant wellness care to improve a child’s quality of life. Currently, there are 3,800 InfantSEE providers and the program has performed over 172,000 assessments since inception in 2005.
“Over the years, we’ve seen the InfantSEE initiative grow – from number of providers to children’s lives changed,” said Charissa Lee, O.D., MBA, FAAO, Head of North America Professional Affairs at Johnson & Johnson. “These workshops emphasize the importance of training the next generation of doctors of optometry to provide this essential service. Each workshop offers something new and applicable to conducting infant eye exams, while encouraging students to become providers after graduation.”
Upcoming InfantSEE Workshops
With the support of Johnson & Johnson Vision, InfantSEE will host additional workshops this fall at the Midwestern Regional Conference at Indiana University School of Optometry and Western Regional Conference at University of California Berkeley School of Optometry. Both events will offer three workshops throughout the conferences.
Additionally, to accommodate interested participants across the U.S., three virtual pop-ups will be held in September and October through AOA’s EyeLearn. More information on the virtual offerings will be released in EyeLearn in the coming months.
