Evolution in the ophthalmic space is rapidly changing in both diagnosis and treatment of common eye conditions. Clinical trials serve as a frame for physicians to learn about and practice evidence-based medicine. Specifically, in regard to anterior segment surgical care the innovation is blazing. The purpose of this lecture is to highlight the future of ophthalmic surgery and review a few of the technologies or treatments that are on the horizon by leveraging the speakers' experiences in clinical trials. The speakers will discuss some recently approved technologies as well as some that are in the final stages of clinical trials. Exciting technology discussions will revolve around intraocular lenses (IOLs), post-operative drug delivery, corneal surgeries, glaucoma drug delivery, and many more. The aim of the course will be to give a glimpse into the future for eyecare and what it means for our future.
