GO-Keeping AI on the retina: A review of current state of artificial intelligence for retina disease, diagnosis, and prognosis
Description:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an emerging technology with current and future clinical application. The course opens with defining, reviewing, and explaining machine learning, deep learning, and neural networks. It then focuses on the current state of artificial intelligence in optometric clinical application including disease screening, staging, and predicting progression. The conversation takes a narrower look at current applications of AI in diabetic retinopathy, macular disease, and glaucoma. It ends with considerations and research regarding the cited limitations of AI within research and potential implications of AI on optometry and healthcare overall.
