Description:

This course will provide an overview of the essentials needed for an excisional lid surgeon to properly understand the pre-operative, pathology-related decisions and interpretation of pathology reports required when a surgical specimen will result from the procedure.  This will include familiarization with choice of fixative options, use of pre-processing inks to identify tumor margins, special stains and their meaning in reading a pathology report, a review of histology and surgical pathology terminology and special consideration of procedures routinely done when granulomatous tissue is encountered.
