Description:

This course will provide an overview of the increasing worldwide prevalence of Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and the resulting implications. Though the influence of genetics and value of nutritional supplementation will be acknowledged, this course will focus on specific modifiable risk factors that may influence the onset and progression of AMD across its various stages. This will include a review of key studies on dietary intake, smoking cessation, physical activity, and sunlight exposure. The link between systemic health factors and AMD will be addressed with an emphasis on implementation of an effectively communicated holistic approach in AMD.
