Description:

This lecture serves as an introduction to minor/office-based surgical procedures in the optometric practice. We will review proper instrument sterilization and aseptic technique along with preparation of a sterile field. Types of injections, needle and syringe basics, and appropriate injection preparation are also included. Incision and curettage of chalazia including setup, instruments, anesthetic use, and discarding surgical supplies are discussed.
