Description:

Corneal dystrophies and degenerations have both systemic and genetic components, and we are learning more about them each day.  This course will provide a layer-by-layer review of corneal dystrophies and degenerations, utilizing the presenter's own clear images from her patients, and educating the attendee to recognize the various conditions based on their physical appearance.  It will discuss the diagnosis and management of the most common dystrophies and degenerations, with case examples provided.  It will also discuss the treatment of complications caused by the dystrophies and review the various methods of corneal transplantation in great detail.  Then, the newest development-in-office genetic testing for over 70 mutations of the TGFBI gene, commercially available in 2021-will be discussed in great detail.
