AOA+ 2023 Planning & Site Visit
As part of Optometry’s Meeting® and AOA+ in Washington, D.C., June 21-24, 2023, the AOA is planning a major mobilization of our profession that can only be done in partnership with affiliates. Join the AOA as we coordinate and plan for this largest-ever member recruitment, retention, engagement and advocacy effort by participating in the AOA+ 2023 Planning & Site Visit at the Grand Hyatt Washington Hotel, Sept. 22-23.
The AOA+ 2023 Planning & Site Visit is a special, one-and-a-half-day coordination meeting among affiliate executive directors and AOA staff in Washington, D.C., dedicated to seeking input, sharing programming information and working together to ensure Optometry’s Meeting and AOA+ 2023 deliver an unprecedented membership growth and engagement, leadership development and advocacy opportunity. With a goal of attracting 3,000+ optometry students, faculty and new doctors to the nation’s capital for AOA+ and Optometry’s Meeting, June 21-24, 2023, the AOA asks for affiliates’ partnership in this landmark endeavor.
Affiliate executive directors and staff are invited to join the AOA at the Grand Hyatt Washington Hotel in Washington, D.C., Sept. 22-23, as we partner to build on the momentum set by the inaugural AOA+ in 2017. That year, over 2,300 optometry students and new doctors came together—an important event that not only served to connect future doctors but also future leaders. Attendees of the inaugural AOA+ committed to AOA and affiliate membership at significantly higher rates than is typical of most students, 60% versus 43-46%, demonstrating how we all benefit and grow stronger by working together.
Having missed our opportunity to build on the AOA+ momentum in 2020 due to the public health emergency, the AOA intends for 2023 to be even more bold and ambitious. Come see how we will make 2023 a historic year for optometry—register for our planning and site visit below.
There is no registration cost to attend the planning and site visit.
Additional details that will help in your planning:
- Hotel: Up to (2) hotel nights (standard king or double) for Wednesday, Sept. 21 and Thursday, Sept. 22, night will be covered at the Grand Hyatt Washington. Any additional nights or room upgrades will be your responsibility.
- Book your room: Book your hotel reservation into the hotel block at the Grand Hyatt Washington. Hotel reservations must be made by Aug. 31, 2022.
- Airport: If flying, we suggest DCA (Reagan National Airport). Please plan to arrive no later than 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 22. If you will be arriving later, please let us know. Please book your flight no later than Aug. 24, 2022.
