39 Wooster St., New York, NY 10013

Our eyes are worthy of the same hype that the latest and greatest tech products always get. That’s why AOA’s Eye Deserve More campaign is getting Americans to prioritize the most impressive tech of all: their eyes.

To bring this message to life, the AOA developed ‘The Eye,’ a conceptual prototype created to compare smartphone capabilities to the unparalleled technology of the human eye.

Join us for the groundbreaking pop-up event revealing The Eye in New York City on August 23-25. This event will engage visitors with interactive experiences that highlight the powerful technology already present in their own eyes and showcase the critical role optometrists play in maintaining overall health.

An Opening Reception will be held on Friday, August 23 from 5-7 p.m. ET for local doctors, paraoptometrics, students and members of the optometric community to experience the event and enjoy some light appetizers with your colleagues. For those who are unable to join, visit anytime during the public event and use the resources provided below to invite family, friends and your patients.

FAQs

What is Eye Deserve More?

Eye Deserve More is a multi-faceted national campaign to take a stand that every American deserves in-person comprehensive care from an AOA doctor of optometry as part of their eye health and overall health and wellbeing.

The campaign helps people understand the critical role doctors of optometry play as a primary healthcare provider to keep our eyes and whole body healthy. In today's tech-driven world, technology has now become an indispensable part of our daily lives, whether it’s due to personal or professional use. With digital and tech driven eye symptoms, like digital eye strain, on the rise, devoting the same amount of time to our eye health as we do to technology will make tech-engaged experiences even more fulfilling.

What is The Eye and its purpose?

The Eye is a conceptual prototype that serves as a visually compelling educational tool to highlight the immense power of human eyes and the importance of eye health. It’s meant to intrigue, and then challenge people to rethink the way they obsess over the latest and greatest smartphones, computers, and tablets, but often neglect the most advanced tech they already possess — their eyes. The Eye's physical components represent real capabilities of the human eye, representing a level of sophistication that current technology cannot physically replicate. This underscores the need to prioritize and care for the unparalleled technology we already have over the tech that can’t compare.

How does The Eye compare to the human eye?

Although the product itself is conceptual, all capabilities discussed about The Eye are true to the human visual system. The design of The Eye is not representative of the location or scale of eye anatomy, since The Eye design aims to represent the power of two eyes and the brain into one small device.

How can we interact with and/or learn more about The Eye?
