Sally Greeley, CPOT

Paraoptometric of the Year

Sally Greeley, CPOT, of Smart Eye Care, began working in eye care 32 years ago and has handled nearly every role of an optometric practice.  From medical transcription to the front desk, to technician, optician, billing, office manager and administration, Greeley has been a team player for the practice. Her hard work and support helped the practice open two additional satellite offices in Maine.

She has held her CPOT certification since 2003, and also holds certification as Optometric Assistant Registered, American Board of Opticianry, and National Contact Lens Examiners.

Her service to the paraoptometric community includes numerous volunteer roles and leadership titles at the regional, state and national level. She has served on the Maine Paraoptometric Association board starting as member-at-large, ascending to Secretary/Treasurer, Vice President/Education Chair, and President. In 2004, she was named Main Paraoptometric of the Year.  Greeley is an active AOA volunteer and is currently Vice-Chair of the Commission on Paraoptometric Certification, Co-chair of Certification Exam committee, Chair of Coding and Billing committee, and a member of the Test Review committee.

Greeley's leadership led her to initiate many new projects in Maine. One of these initiatives has included co-creating a state-wide Jump Start Basic Technician training program, focused on helping optometric technicians develop the skillset needed to thrive and better serve patients in an optometric office.

In her local community, Greeley is dedicated to educating the public on the importance of eye care.  She dresses up as "Dr. Seymour Clearly" at school presentations to teach children about eye health. She organizes a booth at the Senior Spectrum Style Expo each year, encouraging regular comprehensive eye exams.

Greeley is passionate about patient care and is well-versed on products, insurance coverage, and how to maximize each patient's visual and comfort needs through various frames, lenses and coating combinations.  She understands complex topics and can convey those in an easy-to-understand way for the patients.
