Jennifer Kohn, O.D.

Jennifer Kohn, O.D.

Jennifer Kohn, O.D., has accomplished much in her first ten years with the Indiana Optometric Association (IOA).

Even before beginning practice, as a student at the Indiana University School of Optometry, Dr. Kohn served as a class representative for the IU Optometric Student Association, planning bonfires and advocating for student and optometric rights in Washington, D.C. Upon graduation, Dr. Kohn spent her externships at multiple VA clinics which provided her a focused education in ocular disease. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Optometry.

Since her graduation, she has helped to grow her family's practice, Moses Eyecare in Northwest Indiana, from three to ten locations, and has taken on the role of human resources manager for the 85-plus staff and ten-doctor practice.

Dr. Kohn is an active IOA member, serving as past president of the Northwestern Society and current its secretary-treasurer. She is also a member of the IOA Government Affairs Committee.

Dr. Kohn, along with two of her IOA colleagues, started YOLO (Young Optometrist Leadership Organization) in Indiana. This group encourages membership and engagement at the society, state and national levels, nurturing our future leaders. Dr. Kohn has recently been nominated as one of six trustees of the Indiana Optometric Association's Board of Trustees, for a term starting in April, 2019.

In addition to her dedication to her career, Dr. Kohn is also dedicated to serving the vision needs of those in her community. She supports the Blind Services Association and the Special Olympics, where she organizes multiple staff members to help provide participants with eye care. Dr. Kohn serves on the Board of VOSH Illinois and has participated in several trips over the years.

Dr. Kohn serves the American Optometric Association as the AOA-PAC chair for Indiana. Leading by example, she is a visible supporter of the AOA's advocacy efforts.
