Optometry students looking to take the next step in their careers will find valuable opportunities at the Career Fair and AOA+ Residency Summit during Optometry’s Meeting®, June 17–20 in Phoenix. Designed specifically for students and new doctors of optometry, the event connects attendees with residency directors, employers and leaders from across the profession.

Students attending will:

  • Obtain access to residency programs. Meet and speak with residency directors to learn about program expectations, specialties and the application process.
  • Connect with future employers. Network with practices, organizations and industry leaders recruiting the next generation of doctors of optometry.
  • Explore different practice modalities. Discover opportunities in private practice, medical optometry, group practice and other career settings.
  • Gain practical career tools. Students can refine their professional brand with opportunities such as mock interviews, professional headshots and LinkedIn profile guidance.

The Career Fair will take place on Friday, June 19, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., in the Eye Care Square Exhibit Hall.

To help students navigate the experience, attendees will receive an AOA+ Passport card that guides them to participating employers eager to engage with future doctors of optometry. As students move through the exhibit hall, the passport helps identify career opportunities, encourages conversations with employers and highlights organizations offering potential job and residency pathways.

Travel grants help make attendance possible

To help reduce financial barriers, students, new graduates and optometric educators can access more than 2,000 AOA+ travel grants to help offset travel costs. Those who register for Optometry’s Meeting can apply for these grants, making it easier to attend and participate in the Career Fair and other student-focused programming.
