OptometryStudents.com refresher upgrades resource for future optometrists
A revamped online resource for optometry students strives to attract, empower and inspire the profession’s future through building a community.
OptometryStudents.com, a website designed as a go-to resource for all things related to optometry student life, was relaunched during Optometry’s Meeting® 2023 in Washington, D.C., after receiving a complete overhaul that sees fresh ideas, new direction and modern design to the platform. Powered by the American Optometric Student Association (AOSA) and the AOA, OptometryStudents.com hosts articles, videos and other content created by optometry student contributors from across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico that encourages professional engagement and advancement.
“We believe in the power of shared experiences and ideas, so we’re committed to creating a space where your thoughts, ideas and experiences can be openly shared and heard,” notes Easy Anyama, AOSA past president, and Dhara Patel, AOSA past trustee and senior editor at OptometryStudents.com.
So, what’s new with OptometryStudents.com? In addition to a refreshingly modern website design, students visiting the site can expect:
- Informative articles, how-to guides and reference materials for students’ journey through optometry school and into the profession.
- Unique events to enrich students’ knowledge, growth and networking, including expert interviews, interactive features and engaging webinars.
- Dedicated discussion forums for students to share their thoughts, ideas and experiences openly and ask questions.
Advancing connections, involvement
OptometryStudents.com strives to keep current students at the top of their game and attract the most motivated, determined pre-optometry students to enter the profession; better students equal better doctors, which in turn equates to a better profession and, ultimately, better patient care. It’s this sense of purpose and pride that OptometryStudents.com hopes to retell as part of every student’s journey to becoming a doctor of optometry.
Toward that end, OptometryStudents.com will be a hub for future meetings and events hosted by the AOSA and AOA, encouraging that journey with myriad ways to become an advocate for optometry and get involved at their school, in their state and nationally. What’s more, motivated students can take the next step and join the OptometryStudents.com team with new editorial roles available.
