The AOA and the World Council of Optometry (WCO) are now accepting abstracts for the 2025 Poster Session at Optometry's Meeting® | 5th World Congress of Optometry. This event offers a platform for clinicians, students and faculty to present unique clinical cases and research to a global audience.

“Posters have been a fantastic floor for upcoming clinicians and seasoned physicians alike to share exciting cases and converse with colleagues in an interactive forum,” says Mahsa Katherine Masoudi, O.D., AOA Education Center Committee member and former posters session participant. “Additionally, it’s a great way to break into presentations for future optometric speakers still getting their feet wet. I highly recommend submitting and attending Poster Sessions.”

Submissions for clinicians, students and faculty

Abstracts must be submitted electronically by Feb. 14. Submissions should feature complete and unpublished case reports or research. Accepted posters will be presented in one of three formats:

  1. Live/in-person: Presented June 26-27 at Optometry’s Meeting in Minneapolis.
  2. Live/virtual: Real-time presentations with live Q&A on May 29.
  3. Pre-recorded: Available on the EyeLearn platform starting May 23.

The top five posters will be featured in a live education session on June 27 and highlighted in AOA Focus magazine and WCO e-news.

Submit your abstract

“This is a great opportunity to support the future of our profession,” adds Erik Mothersbaugh, O.D., Poster Session moderator and liaison. “While many of the poster authors will be names well-known by AOA membership, there are also a lot of folks early in their careers who are the ones setting the tone for where we’re headed in the years to come. We are especially excited to collaborate with the World Council of Optometry for this year’s program. The top five rated posters will be featured in a special live presentation co-hosted by representatives from both the AOA and WCO. Don’t miss out!”

How to submit

Those interested can submit their abstracts through the Optometry's Meeting website. Detailed guidelines and submission forms are available online.

Residents are encouraged to participate in the Residency Forum by submitting case presentations here. The top 10 cases will be featured at Optometry’s Meeting on Friday, June 27, from 9-11 a.m.
