Three reasons to attend Optometry's Meeting

3 reasons Optometry’s Meeting® is the place to be

Bigger and better is what Optometry's Meeting® strives to deliver year after year, and this iteration is no exception. Our profession's premier meeting offers several new and must-see events as well as some twists on classic favorites.

"We hope that all attendees will be fully engaged in the wide range of experiences at Optometry’s Meeting in St. Louis."

Meet us in St. Louis June 19-23 to earn an unprecedented 43 hours of continuing education (CE) credits across five days in the Gateway to the West and return home ready to build upon the industry-best clinical pearls and practice management lessons. With over 230 hours of OD-specific CE, including 32 hours of advanced surgical procedures and laser workshops, Optometry's Meeting has something for everyone-and not just CE.

No other meeting delivers such an ambitious combination of industry-leading, innovative and engaging CE; countless networking opportunities with the profession's foremost leaders and advocates; a chance to affect the profession's future in AOA's main governing body, the House of Delegates; and out-of-the-box, family-friendly entertainment that highlights each host city as a summer vacation destination.

"We hope that all attendees will be fully engaged in the wide range of experiences at Optometry's Meeting in St. Louis and will return home more invigorated about our great profession," says Paul Hodge, O.D., AOA Meetings Committee chair.

Optometry's Meeting is the place to be and here's why:

  1. The members' meeting. As AOA and AOSA members, Optometry's Meeting is your meeting. No other place will you find opportunities to advance the future of the profession like optometry's preeminent assembly of leaders and decision-makers in the AOA House of Delegates. Here, delegates from your state associations work to make members' voices heard. Likewise, Optometry's Meeting is your chance to reconnect and network with colleagues from across the nation. Doctors can find an alumni and friends reception to socialize, connect and build your professional network, while students can take the AOA+ track with the Leadership Link networking program and AOA+ Pop-Up Sessions to help jump-start their careers.

"Networking is critical to our profession, and this year we are offering some unique opportunities," Dr. Hodge says. "While Optometry's Meeting remains an opportunity for the AOA and AOSA to conduct their respective annual membership meetings, we are attempting to encourage attendance through innovative social offerings."

You are the emphasis, so use your AOA and AOSA member's-only registration pricing to register today.

  2. The education destination. You need it, Optometry's Meeting has it: the best CE courses and workshops that the industry has to offer are readily available in one place. With over 170 different CE opportunities spanning subjects ranging from contact lenses and dry eye to neuro-optometry and surgical co-management, Optometry's Meeting has education for whatever your needs. That includes 18 CE with examination courses this year, five COPE-approved CE courses offered specially in the Exhibit Hall, and 50 CE credit hours for optometric staff. Back by popular demand is the CE After Dark track, featuring a block of courses offered 6 p.m. to midnight Friday so you can experience everything that Optometry's Meeting and its host city has to offer.

  3. The family-friendly location. It's an AOA and AOSA homecoming as Optometry's Meeting welcomes members to St. Louis, the hometown and national headquarters of the association. To celebrate, Optometry's Meeting is giving attendees the full St. Louis experience with the family-friendly AOA Block Party. But, there's certainly more to experience in St. Louis, which is why it's a perfect opportunity to use Optometry's Meeting as a family vacation. St. Louis has plenty of family-oriented activities and locations to visit when you're in-between CE or events at America's Center-just check out all that St. Louis has to offer visitors.
