Thank you for your interest in joining the American Optometric Association (AOA) and taking an active role in strengthening optometry. As a public member, you must not be an optometrist but must have a substantial interest in the profession of optometry and contribute to the advancement of the interests of the AOA.
Effective January 1, 2013, the annual dues are a percentage of AOA full annual dues based on the World Bank GNI and the country where the member resides. Canada residents must pay a 5% GST, which is included in the annual dues amount. Annual dues will be prorated for the year joined as determined by the effective date of membership. The effective date of membership is the date the application is signed by the applicant. All dues must be paid in U.S. dollars and must be paid in full at the time application for membership is made. Credit cards are the preferred method of payment.
Use the public (non-OD) associate membership application to initiate a new public (non-OD) associate membership, or to reinstate an AOA public (non-OD) associate membership that has lapsed. NOTE: Current public (non-OD) associate members should not submit an application for membership renewal. Renewal invoices are issued by AOA in January of each year. Payment of your dues invoice renews your membership for the upcoming year.

2. Complete all application information requested. Your signature on page 2 acknowledges acceptance of membership terms. Payment of first year dues must be included with your application. The dues amount is determined by the country in which you reside and your effective date of membership (see payment of annual dues section of the application). Dues may be paid by MasterCard, Visa or American Express or by check drawn on a U.S. bank in U.S. dollars.
3. Send your completed application (pages 1 and 2 only) and dues payment to:

Upon approval, you will receive your AOA membership card and certificate.
Your AOA ID number will be included on your membership card. Your AOA ID number is required for member access to the AOA website and to receive the reduced member registration fee at Optometry's Meeting®.
