  • Recognize an employee's aptitude or skill by inviting him/her to teach or coach others a technique at a lunch and learn.
  • Dedicate a special parking spot for an "Employee of the Month".
  • Create an employee "Wall of Fame".  Post thank you notes from patients, pictures of staff with patients, and news clippings of staff involvement in the community.
  • Celebrate birthdays and work anniversaries.
  • Decorate an employee's area for their birthday or special occasion.
  • Empower employees to take proactive action (within boundaries) to make decisions.
  • Send employees to professional conferences related to his/her responsibilities.
  • Track measurements and celebrate success:  reduced absenteeism, tardiness, sick days, accident free days, etc.
  • Allow your employee to leave early for the day on occasion.
  • Have employees nominate coworkers for employee of the month or year.
  • Recognize new employees with a warm welcome.
  • Greet employees each day, reinforcing their importance to your practice.
  • Provide a means of recognition by highlighting paraoptometric certification levels and celebrate when new levels are achieved.
