As myopia prevalence continues to rise, misinformation has become widespread, fueled by social media, outdated teachings and commercial bias. This course equips clinicians with the clarity and confidence needed to translate current research into practical, patient-centered care. In recognition of Earth Day, this session will also explore meaningful connections between eye health and environmental stewardship. Speakers will highlight how time spent outdoors plays a critical role in reducing myopia onset in children, while also discussing sustainable practices in optometry. Enroll to attend on April 22. The 2026 Opportunities in Optometry application is now open

To promote inclusion in the optometric profession for generations to come, the AOA/AOSA Opportunities in Optometry Grant program is designed as a one-time stipend for underrepresented minority students interested in the field of optometry to help defray the costs associated with applying to optometry school. The application deadlines are May 1 and December 1. Please encourage undergraduate students who cross your path to apply. Interested in independent practice? Join the AOA CIP Independent Practice Institute

The AOA Center for Independent Practice (CIP) delivers the Independent Practice Institute, a 12-month member benefit program designed to engage and equip the upcoming generation of doctors with the business basics of running an independent practice. Through a combination of virtual and in-person training, participants will obtain the skillset and confidence to start or step into an independent practice. Open to all active AOA member students and doctors, particularly those early in their careers, the Independent Practice Institute is accepting applications for the 2026-27 program. Applications are being accepted through the month of April.
